Conan O’Brien vs. Cory Booker

Written by Zach Ellman, Online Entertainment Editor

On September 30th, Conan O’Brien of “The Tonight Show” bashed out Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker, stating “The Mayor of Newark, New Jersey wants to set up a citywide program to improve residents’ health. The health-care program would consist of a bus ticket out of Newark,” referring to the cities high crime rates and poverty. As a result of this, Booker sent out a video on YouTube officially banning Conan from Newark International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the US, stating “Try JFK buddy”, referring to JFK International Airport in Queens, New York.

When Conan saw the video, he retaliated by banning Booker from Burbank Airport in California. When Mayor Booker saw this, Booker banned him from the entire state of New Jersey with the support of mayors from all around the state, until Conan then banned him from the State of California. He asked him to come onto the late night show and settle the feud once and for all.

Mayor Booker sent out another video on YouTube and said that he would come to his show if he would also visit Newark. He also added that if he was to come to the show, he would settle the feud by a race, criticizing how he had one a week before with Teri Hatcher, where he fell and got a concusion. And as a peace offering, Mayor Booker offered him a New York Giants helmet to protect him from falling again, referring to how the New York Giants play in New Jersey.

However, the whole feud became real when US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton intervened by posting a video that stated “The time has come to make peace. Let’s just chalk it up to Conan’s head injury and be done with this whole mess. Then you can end this silly feud and you can go back to what you both do best. For Mayor Booker that means leading Newark toward a new era of growth and prosperity. For Conan that means dancing around the stage and making lame jokes about my pantsuits.”

Conan and Mayor Booker are expected to come face to face when Mayor Booker appears on the Friday night episode of “The Tonight Show” at 11:35 P.M. only on NBC.
