Gut Check: Renzo’s Pizza

Menu: Renzo the owner of the restaurant came from Sicily, and opened up his first restaurant in Long Island, NY. This is his second restaurant in Boca Raton. Renzo’s menu carries many Italian favorites such as Chicken Marsala and Veal Parmesan, but has some items that you will find in no other Italian restaurant in Boca. They make Muffelettas, a type of sandwich that is found in New Orleans. Renzo’s also makes New York restaurant classics like homemade Fried Ravioli and Rice Balls. The main attraction to Renzo’s though is there different types of pizza. They make for example a “Pizza Bianco” which has Ricotta Cheese, Mushrooms, Bacon, and Mozzarella on it. They also make pizza with seafood on it such as the “Shrimp Scampi Pizza” which has shrimp sautéed with garlic and white wine on it. Renzo’s also make Calzone, Stromboli, and sandwiches. This diverse menu has items that are not too expensive which just makes it a better place to go to for high school students.
Verdict: ☺☺☺☺
Food: From all the items mentioned above you know Renzo’s has plenty of food to try. That really doesn’t matter though if it does not taste good. Luckily Renzo’s probably makes some of the best Italian food in Boca. The pizza is the closest that I have tasted that can be considered New York pizza. The appetizers are good as well even though the portion is sometimes not worth the price. The sandwiches taste just as good as the pizza. Even the stranger pizzas which some may be afraid to try have a sensational taste.
Verdict: ☺☺☺☺☺- GUT BUSTED!
Atmosphere/Design: The new Renzo’s is more for takeout but they do have some seats. The have seats outside but the way they cramp tables on the inside just makes it uncomfortable and hard to move around. The atmosphere of the restaurant though makes up for the design. When you walk into Renzo’s you actually feel like you are walking into a New York pizzeria. Watching all of the cooks yelling and throwing up pizza dough reminded me of home.

All of these qualities makes Renzo’s a great addition to Boca’s restaurant scene.
