This holiday season, Macy’s department store aims to make everyone’s wishes come true. They are hosting three different reward opportunities, two of which are available to shoppers as well as general internet users. The third opportunity benefits the Make a Wish Foundation, an organization dedicated to granting children with potentially fatal medical conditions their wishes, instilling hope and strength upon their lives.
As advertized on their website, each Macy’s location has a “Santa’s Special Letterbox.” Letters to be deposited in this letterbox should be addressed to Santa at the North Pole, accompanied by a stamp in the upper right-hand corner. For ever letter that they receive, Macy’s will donate $1.00 to the Make a Wish Foundation. They plan to continue donating until they reach their ultimate goal of $1,000,000.00. Not only does this fundraiser potentially put a smile on the faces of children involved in the Make a Wish Foundation, but also to all of the hopeful children who are writing their letters to Santa.
An opportunity for the general public to participate in the Macy’s endless holiday generosity was presented by way of their “Believe Promotion.” In short, this contest supplies two winners with a round-trip flight and stay at a hotel in NYC for four to see the 2010 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Winners will also be granted a $1,000 Macy’s Gift Card. Those who entered the contest were to submit an essay of 1,000 words or less, or a video no more than a minute long explaining what they believe in and why. These entries were due December 3rd. The winner is to be announced on December 15th, 2009 based on votes casted by people online.
In light of their holiday spirit, Macy’s will also randomly select of their Believe contest voters, to win a $1,000.00 Macy’s gift card for simply participating.
