President Obama is currently pushing for universal health care. If the bill were to be passed, the government would take over for private health insurance companies. Taxes could possibly be raised, or budgets cut. Health care provided by the government may sound tempting at first, but it can leave behind some damages.
If Congress were to approve this bill, then they would risk shutting down private insurance agencies across the country, costing thousands of workers their jobs. At least the workers would be able to afford health insurance.
Free health coverage never really is “free”; it’s affordable. Of course everyone must know that the funding for this idea comes from something other than trees—your pockets. Taxes will most likely be raised, and instead of them going to departments whose budgets have already been reduced to a bare minimum, like education, they go to this new idea of universal health care.
People will also be waiting much longer to see a doctor, because now they don’t have a reason to shy away from doctor visits.
You can’t be turned away if you don’t have coverage, because it’s illegal to turn away someone who needs emergency care. There are already government-run hospitals and/or free health clinics open to the public. People who aren’t insured can still get the help they need without the installation of universal health care.
