Shaq dancing with the Jabbawockeez

Shaquille O’Neal, better known as Shaq Diesel, is trying something new to get ready for the upcoming NBA season. He has created a new television show called “Shaq VS” in which he takes on such athletes as Michael Phelps and Albert Pujols in their respective sports. The show is primarily a new cross-training program that will help Shaq get ready for the long grueling NBA season, but it is also a chance for Diesel to express his creative side as an entertainer. He has shown this with his rap albums, movies, and his videogame “Shaq-Fu”. Shaq has been an entertainer on the court as well with his vicious dunks and his good humor tactics like shooting free throws with a blindfold. Shaq has shown this same humor when competing against his opponents on the show.
“Shaq VS” starts with Ultimate Fighting Commentator Mike Goldberg, and Pat Tomasulo of WGN, talking about who Shaq will be facing that week. He then trains for the week with one of his opponent’s teammates, counterparts in the sport, or their coach. The first show for example, he played Superbowl Champion Ben Roethlisberger, so Charlie Batch one of Pittsburgh’s backup quarterbacks, helped Shaq train. Diesel also lends the athlete of the week a hand with one of their charity functions. Although he only won one event a swimming race against Michael Phelps, Shaq showed that he has what it takes to learn the skills necessary to play different sports, and play them to some degree.
Shaq always the entertainer is combining his training with fun. He has made up nicknames for himself like Shaqie Robinson or Shaqmu. Prehaps he is thinking of a new dance to do, like when he wore a Jabbawockeez mask. Diesel has also stated that he played a lot of these sports in high school. All of these things combined is what equals the theme of “Shaq VS.”
Some say that this is Shaq’s last year in the NBA. He has stated that this is to help himself and the Cavaliers try to win an NBA Championship.
