Katie Feller: Executive Editor In Chief

IMG_1353222A senior at West Boca, Katie is really excited for both the new online and the print papers this year. Beginning in newspaper her sophomore year as a news writer, she was promoted to News Editor the 2008-2009 school year. As Executive Editor In Chief this year, she looks forward to another great year and promises nothing but absolute excellence concerning all the coverage in the future.

Danielle Bradley: Online Op-Ed Editor

As a Junior at West Boca Raton High School, Danielle is very excited to be an editor on the new online newspaper. Starting off as an Op-Ed staff writer Danielle was promoted to Online Op-Ed editor for the 2009-2010 year. Danielle is looking foward to this year, and is especially excited to extend the Op-Ed section to online.

Mr. Lucas: Newspaper Adviser

magic tomNow in his fifth year as Newspaper Adviser, Mr. Lucas is happy to be advancing our award-winning journalism program with westsidestorywbhs.com. He is looking forward to providing the school and its community with timely and relevant student news.

Originally from Detroit, Mr. Lucas studied English at Wayne State University where he also served as an editor for The South End (WSU’s daily newspaper). In addition, Mr. Lucas worked as a freelance journalist, covering film and music for many Detroit-area newspapers.

He recently earned his Master’s in Education Technology from Full Sail University, and has great expectations for this website and continuing a tradition of excellence in student journalism here at WBHS.

Kayla Dubnick: Online Features Editor

As a junior at West Boca Raton High School, Kayla is extremely excited to be a part of the new online newspaper. Starting off as a features staff writer, she has been promoted to the Online Features Editor in the 2009-2010 school year. She hopes to accomplish her job as a features writer by keeping the section eye-catching and interesting.

Zach Ellman, Online Entertainment Editor

Zach Ellman has been a member of The Westside Story for the past two years. Zach started when he first took Journalism 1. He was recently assigned to Online Entertainment Editor and hopes to write a lot of articles concerning topics like movies, television, school shows, music and more. Zach hopes to accomplish writing articles about the West Boca Drama Department.

Christie Riganati: Online News Editor

Now a senior, Christie has been with the West Side Story since her sophomore year. She started off as a features staff writer and by her junior year was the print News Editor. Christie enjoys writing about school related events and student interest topics. This year she is looking foward to keeping the online news section up-to-date and interesting.

Zack Schwartz: Online Sports Editor

Zack a junior, is the first online sports editor for the West Side Story. Zack joined the Westside Story his sophomore year as a sports writer. Zack can’t wait to start writing sports stories online. He thinks that soon everybody will be reading the Westside Story online for all the newest info at West Boca. Zack loves sports as well, especially baseball and his favorite team is the St. Louis Cardinals. Zack hopes to go to the University of Missouri, to get a Journalism degree, eventually getting a job at ESPN.

Melina Garcia:Online Editor-In-Chief

Senior,Melina, is the West Side Story’s first Online Editor-In-Chief. She began as a Features staff member her Sophomore and has moved her way up ever since. She enjoys writing about fashion, trends, and school related issues. As Editor-In-Chief, she hopes and expects nothing less than excellence for the West Side Story’s first year as an online paper.
